Cambodia Secrets of Sihanoukville?

One of the worst held secrets is the rapid emergence of Sihanoukville Cambodia as a major Asian beach resort town. Many that have been here in the past would smugly say I told you so, as to all it was effortlessly apparent that this quiet microscopic coastal beach town had all the makings for a long time now. All that is needed is more flights into the now open Sihanoukville airport; as soon as there is a direct flight from Bangkok; watch out this place is going to blow!

Three things make Sihanoukville especially spirited and you should take every chance to see Sihanoukville now before it becomes overrun, which it will in the very near future.

A 5 Star luxury Hotel Under 0

Sokha Beach Resort is a 5 star luxury beach resort that has it own long underground beach, a pool the size of a small lake, a staff to guest ratio of 4 to 1, and all the other amenities that you would expect from a 5 star luxury beach resort for under a 0 a night! This price I can assure will not last for long. If your budget is under 0 a night there are lots of other Sihanoukville hotels and guesthouses ready near the ocean with more being built at a furious rate.

The Sihanoukville Islands

The islands have all the time been the real underground there are not many places in the world where you can go to and have this many large undeveloped islands. This will be the area that in the next ten years will see a large increase spurt similar to what happened on Koa Sumui, Koh Phangan and now Koh Chang which incidentally is the closest islands group in Thailand to the Cambodia Thai border. It makes sense that Koh Rung Samleom and Koh Rung will see major things in the next 3 to 5 years and the Koh Tang groups do to its isolation, charm and perfect scuba diving and water sports, will be the real Shangri la in the future.

Real money, make that Riel money.

The Cambodian cheaper is based on the Us Dollar. What this means for you is ridiculously lower prices compared to a lot of other traveler destinations in South East Asia. Thailand being an perfect example as the Baht continues to get stronger despite a troops junta running the country, and a major Muslim uprising in the southern three provinces, that has seen over 2500 killed in just a few years of on going guerrilla warfare. One of the reasons stated for the Junta to take power was to try to get that situation under control which from the news reports that do carry on to come out of the region that they are no added along to a explication than they were a year ago.

The increased value of Korean, Malaysian, Singapore, Japanese and Chinese money against the Us dollar make Cambodia even cheaper for the regional tourists with Koreans being the fastest growing sector of the tourism market. And the Asian tourists like a lot of things on offer in Sihanoukville together with legal gambling and an plentifulness of very cheap seafood.

You know, I should also mention that despite what the biggest guide book says, it has a lot of in effect nice beaches to chill on.

Backpacking Inspiration - 6 Weeks South East Asia - Bangkok to Singapore Overland

One of the most popular destinations for independent travellers and backpackers, South East Asia has astonishing Buddhist temples, dense jungles, bustling markets, perfect cuisine and exotic culture. As one of the most affordable regions of the world in which to voyage independently, you can expect incredible value for money and the trip of a lifetime. Here is a sample itinerary for around 6 weeks backpacking Southern Thailand and Peninsular Malaysia.

Fly into Bangkok. As the start of many South East Asian adventures, Bangkok is the extreme in exotic and excitement. It's busy, polluted, noisy and intense. The culture shock may be bewildering but the feel will be unforgettable.

From Bangkok head south by train to Surat Thani, then catch a speedboat to Koh Samui. Spend a week or two on the idyllic beaches eating Tom Yum Soup and drinking Chang Beer.

Khao Sok National Park: Southern Thailand contains an area of jungle faultless with monkeys, elephants, and cool lodges. Stay and enjoy the trekking for a day or two.

Phuket, Ko Phi Phi and Krabi: perambulate slowly down the Andaman Coast. If you fancy it you can go sea kayaking, go diving, or hire a motorbike and recognize the beaches independently.

Take a bus or train south and into Malaysia. This border crossing is no hassle. Once in Malaysia head to Penang where you can swap your phrasebook and catch up on a few big city comforts.

Kuala-Lumpur: Less intense than Bangkok, Kl is an easy place to relax. There's fullness to see in Kl for a combine of days together with the Petronas Towers and the historic colonial architecture.

Singapore: It's developed, westernised, comfortable, clean and expensive. Singapore is an international hub where you can spend a few days finding the sights and enjoying the food before flying home or onto your next destination.

Assuming you voyage independently as a backpacker, this 6 week trip is likely to cost in the region of 00 -00.

Bartering For a Florida Vacation

With the cheaper such as it is, many habitancy are trying to get more creative with money. I think it shows the greatness of America... The resiliency! Many are saving or budgeting for the first time in their life, Money, or the lack of it, has increased people's awareness of its great power--both with it and without it. I can personally say I know habitancy who have had to voice bankruptcy, one whose home has been foreclosed; someone else had an automobile repossessed, and so on. Times are tough. But, as a vacation home rental owner, there is one thing habitancy are hard pressed to give up--their vacation! Especially, their Florida vacation! Somehow the sand, surf and sun make them forget about their financial troubles.

In 2007, at the top of the housing bubble, I too, had to get creative. I was living in the St. Louis area to be closer to one of my four daughters. I had rented out my Florida home as a every year rental from 2005 until 2007. It turned out to be a landlord's worst nightmare toward the end of the lease. The renter didn't pay his rent for two months plus he created a mess in my home. Renting from far away can be tricky at best but I knew it was a bad situation when I asked him, "How does the pool look?" His reply was, "I don't know. I haven't looked at it for a few months." If I had had a pool service, I would have been upset with his comment. But, He was The pool service. He had told me that he had had a pool for years and he knew how to care for My pool. Needless to write, when I saw my pool, it looked like a pond.

After the tenant so graciously left, I went back to Florida to rule what to do with my home. A lady I had become friends with while living in St. Louis I had met while living in the St. Louis area traveled with me, and together we cleaned up the mess. Once again, my home looked like the kind of place that would welcome anyone through its front door. My home had always been a sort of nurse's retreat. The Jacuzzi was strategically located under the stars. The large in ground pool had a built in love seat in the deeper end of the pool. Also, my granddaughter and I had built a fish pond together. It was truly a relaxing home when I lived there and I knew others would be able to touch the same feelings.

I decided to open my home as a vacation rental. I furnished it, and built a web site for my home. As a finishing touch, I bought a sign to place on my front door, "The Time To Be Happy Is Now, The Place To Be Happy Is Here." On my web site, I added a welcome message that inherent vacationer's could listen to. I located a photograph of myself so they would know whom they were renting from. I downloaded loads of pictures of the interior and exterior, and finally a YouTube video so habitancy could honestly talk a virtual tour of my home. It worked! My guestbook is now filled with satisfied clients and warm comments.

One winter day, I began manufacture a reasoning list of some of the upcoming repairs that would be needed to voice my home in Florida. I wanted to make improvements but like everybody else, I was struggling to stay above board. I was always one to pray for God's guidance when I was at a loss for direction. An idea would always come to me... One that I would never seem to have come upon just by myself! First of all, I knew I had something of great value... My Florida home. I knew my home could use a new coat of paint, and I had always wanted to turn out the rug in the house room and the green tile in the kitchen area. It was then the idea came to list it on Craigslist under "barter." I typed out a creative ad and then I waited for a response. The wait was a very short one! I had a call the next day from a fellow who lived in a neighboring town in the St. Louis area. He sounded very professional. He sounded as serious about the barter as I was. We agreed to meet.

The evening that I arranged to meet Kelly (and his family), turned out to be a fabulous experience. The appointment was one of those "divine" appointments. I immediately felt trust and I knew Kelly had the best interest of my home at heart, as well as he had a desire to furnish a Florida vacation for his family. Once again, the inherent goodness of habitancy came shining through. We had a few laughs as we worked out our barter deal. We never had it written down on paper. We still don't. We knew in our hearts and minds that we had sealed a deal and we began to make plans for the work to be done. We finally decided on a new tile floor. There was green tile in the kitchen and beige rug in the house room. The green title had come with the home years before and although, it would never have been my pick, I lived with it as most homeowners do... Until you have the money to make it more of something You like. There were French doors which lead from the kitchen/family room blend to the pool deck, so the addition of tile would be one that would leave the area much easier to clean. My cost? The charge of the tile and other materials to perfect the job.

About the same time as my barter deal with Kelly, I heard from a lady who had found me through an ad I had located with a vacation rental web site. She had saw my listing. She asked if she and her boyfriend could barter for two weeks stay around Christmas time. Their specialty? Painting. While the past two years I had rented one Christmas and the other I hadn't... So it was kind of "iffy." There was a 50/50 opening that it might be rented. I opted for the barter as I needed my surface of the home painted as well as the dining room, hallway and foyer. We corresponded back and forth and agreed on a time. The cost? 1.00!

As I write this article, I am returning from a Florida trip. My purpose? To look at my bartered work. All I can write is, "Omg!" When I drove the rental car from Orlando International Airport to Port Orange, Florida (minutes from the Daytona Beach area), I gasped when I saw my home! We had chosen for the color--"sea salt". Belinda, of Clawson Painting, out of Cleveland, Ohio, had told me, after our many conversations, that I would just love this color. It was a blend of blues, grays and greens. She had also shared with me that most habitancy couldn't honestly frame out what color it honestly was. She said it was a very warm, welcoming and serene color. She couldn't have been more on target. It was beautiful. It honestly brought tears to my eyes. The best part was the actual money out lay was 7.00 and two weeks of time (a few days of the donated time was honestly spent painting). When they arrived to a site, they painted first... Then vacationed second.

After ooing and ahing the new look in the foyer, dining room and hallway, I made my way into the kitchen/family room. I was totally amazed at the transformation. The newly tiled floors were beautiful! It made both rooms look larger. I knew, as well, it would be easier to keep clean. It was also a much more neutral in color. I could bring a lot more color into the room.

I have shared about the corporal changes... The new flooring and the color on the walls but I also want to share about the relationships that were fostered through bartering. We all made new friends. Kelly, Belinda and Tom met one someone else while in Florida. I was able to meet Tom and Belinda when I went to Florida. They had honestly bartered to paint for a stay at a home that all of the locals refer to as "the castle." It sits overlooking the ocean. The front of the home is on A1A, the road which travels along side the beach. Bartering honestly lead to more bartering. After Kelly's meeting with Belinda and Tom, Kelly was then given an offer to barter for a month's stay at the "castle" in replacement for tile work. For so many years, I had traveled down A1A to go to the beach in Ponce Inlet. I would admire the castle on the beach. I never in a million years would have imagined that I would one day walk around the home to admire the painting of Belinda and Tom. Life is full of surprises!

What do You have of value? Think about it. What is Your skill or talent that someone else would find helpful? Do you know how to remodel? Are you a plumber? Do you have a home in the Smokey Mountains? Do you know how to teach piano? The list is endless. The union is just two habitancy who have something of value who wish to make a trade off. If you visit my web site, look under Pictures and you can check out the work which was done, both in the kitchen/family room and also the surface of the home. Of course, it is always a good idea to check on references or do a back ground check. But, in the end, there can be no greater delight on either side of the barter. It is a win win agreement.

Rental Holiday Home Tax Laws in the Uk

Uk Tax Law on Furnished holiday homes is going to change in 2011 and if you rent out holiday room this is going to sway you. So, what are the changes and how do they impact?

Current 'qualifying tests' to meet the requirements of a 'Furnished Holiday Letting' (Fhl) are:

* Must be ready to let for 140 days of the year.
* Must be let for a minimum of 70 days a year.
* No let over 31 days in one go is included in the total.

Lets to the same man in one tax year are allowed but they must not exceed 31 days in any one single letting period.

If your property doesn't qualify as a furnished holiday letting, you will be taxed under the residential property lettings rules. At the bottom of the page are links to added reading on many points in this article.

What if your holiday villa is in the European Economic Area?

From 22 April 2009 Hmrc has applied a temporary prolongation of the current rules to Uk taxpayers with property face of the Uk but within the Eea to pick whether they wish to be taxed under:

* The furnished holiday letting rules - if the property qualifies
* The general rules for property businesses

These arrangements will continue to apply for the 2010-11 tax year but it is this change that has caused added test of Fhl tax rules to bring into line both European and Uk holiday properties.

Working out your holiday home taxable profit:

Your profit on furnished holiday lettings is worked out in the same way as for other rental income, except that you can claim 'capital allowances'.

Read our guidance about Capital Allowances added down or for more see the links at the bottom of the article.

For guidance on filling our a Self evaluation form read added down the page.

What are the Tax advantages of a Furnished Holiday Letting?

There may be a tax benefit if your property qualifies as a furnished holiday letting and whether of the following applies:

* You make a loss on your rental income
* You sell or 'otherwise dispose' of the property

If you make a loss:

Any loss can be offset against your other income, not just the property income, reducing your widespread tax bill; any way this is going to be changed in 2011 removing this tax benefit. You can also carry the loss forward and offset it against hereafter letting profits.

Learn more about offsetting losses in the land and property help notes of the Self evaluation tax return, see the links at the bottom of this article.

What if I sell or 'otherwise dispose' of the Furnished Holiday Letting?

You may be able to take benefit of Capital Gains Tax reliefs, such as 'Business Asset Roll-Over Relief'. For example, if you reinvest the sale proceeds within three years in certain other company assets, you may be able to defer cost of Capital Gains Tax until you arrange of those new assets.

To understand the rules fully visit the links below.

How to mouth income and expenses from your Furnished Holiday Letting.

You need to mouth your rental income from Fhl using the land and property pages of your Self evaluation tax return. If you don't receive one automatically see the links at the bottom of this article. You should also use the same property pages of your tax return to mouth income from furnished holiday lettings property in the Eea.

Allowable expenses to offset your profits on a Furnished Holiday Letting.

Expenses and allowances on income from property include:

* Letting agent's fees
* Legal fees for lets of a year or less, or for renewing a lease for less than 50 years
* Accountant's fees
* structure and contents insurance
* collective Liability Insurance
* Interest on property loans
* Maintenance and repairs to the property (but not improvements)
* Utility bills (like gas, water, electricity)
* Rent, ground rent, service charges
* Council Tax
* Services you pay for, like cleaning or gardening
* Other direct costs of letting the property, like phone calls, stationery, advertising

If your annual income from the letting for the tax year 2009-10 is less than £68,000 (before you've taken off expenses) you include the total of your expenses on your tax return; if it's £68,000 or over you need to furnish a full breakdown.

There are separate types of allowance you may be able to claim for your capital costs. Capital costs include expenditure you make on assets like furniture and machinery.

If you own a qualifying Fhl in the Uk or in the European Economic Area you can claim a 'capital allowance' for the cost of each item of furniture and tool you furnish with the property or you can claim a 'renewals allowance'.

How much capital allowance can you claim?

The allowance depends on what you buy. You can commonly claim 50 per cent of the cost when you buy it - but sometimes 100 per cent for some environmentally cordial expenditure. Each year after that you can claim 25 per cent of what's left. Hm income & Customs (Hmrc) changes the percentages from time to time. The allowance is deducted along with other expenses in calculating your profits. Once you make a choice for each item, you must keep to it.

So what's going to change?

These changes are due to come in for April 2011 and are open to consultation until the 22nd October 2010. To take part in the consultation you can email Jacqueline Latter at holiday-lettings-consultation(at)hmtreasury.gsi.gove.uk or visit Hm Treasury here to view the consultation document in detail.

The major changes to the current holiday letting tax rules are:

* increase the period the property is ready to let from 140 to 210 days.
* increase the actual total let period from 70 to 105 days.
* Restrict the loss relief from Fhl so that it can only be offset against income form the

Fhl company itself. This includes Uk Fhl being treated separately from Eea Fhl. So a loss from a Uk Fhl can only be offset against a Uk Fhl and vice versa. The rules allowing offsetting against tax from other areas (like earned income) will be removed.

Make sure you can gain 105 days occupancy level to maximise your tax benefits in 2011

The rules about Capital expenditure and Capital gains will remain. How long for is open to debate!

What holiday home tax paperwork do I need to keep?

In order to be able to unblemished the land and property pages of your Self evaluation you need to keep:

* A note of all the rent you receive and the dates you rent out the property.
*
* A record of your company expenses (see the Self evaluation land and property pages help notes for what counts as company expenses)
* Sales receipts, invoices and bank statements.
* permissible expenses
* 'Capital' costs
* All these records for six years after the tax year concerned

If you need help completing the pages, call the Self evaluation help-line on 0845 9000 444 (open 8.00 am to 8.00 pm seven days per week).

What are 'Allowable expenses'

Your records should include details of all your costs of letting or managing your property. permissible expenses cut your taxable profit. They include all or part of these costs:

* Letting agent's, accountant's and legal fees
* structure and contents insurance
* property loan interest
* Maintenance and repairs - not improvements
* Utility bills, like gas, water, electricity
* Rent, ground rent and service charges
* Council Tax
* Advertising
* Other direct costs of letting the property, like phone calls

What are holiday letting 'Capital' costs?

You can cut your taxable profit by claiming separate types of allowances for the cost of furniture and tool you furnish with the property.

Capital Costs include items used within the property, not used by you personally, such as Washing machines, cookers, cutlery etc.

What if I unblemished a Self evaluation form?

For the 2009-10 tax year, if your total income from Uk property is under £68,000 a year before expenses, you can group the expenses as a single total on your tax return. If it's £68,000 or more, you'll need to show your expenses separately.

Your Tax Office can ask to see your records at any time. So hold onto the detailed facts even if your income's less than £68,000.

What if I don't unblemished a Self evaluation form?

If you're employed and your taxable income from property is less than £2,500, your Pay As You Earn (Paye) tax code can be adjusted to gain the tax on your property income. Your Tax Office will send you form P810 to record your income each year.

However, you'll still need to keep records, to enable you to fill in form P810. Your Tax Office can also ask to see your records to check your figures.

If your income from rent is £2,500 or more you'll need to unblemished a tax return.

How long do I need to keep the records?

You'll need to keep your records for six years after the tax year to which they apply - whether you unblemished a tax return or not.

La Palma - The Steepest Island in the World

The little-known island of La Palma is described by many as the gorgeous island of the Canary Islands ("la isla bonita").

It is true, the scenery is quite naturally out of this world. It gives you a burst of adrenaline and goose bumps at times, it for real is that special. It is the steepest island in the world and the views are probably nothing like most population have ever seen before.

In my opinion, it is this steepness of this volcanic island that has saved it from becoming someone else Tenerife or Mallorca, where what could only be described as mass-tourism is present. La Palma just naturally does not have the accessible long flat white sand beaches that the more customary Canary Islands have and which container tourists desire.

Instead, La Palma has smaller volcanic black sand coves and beaches, often hard to get to and without the usual tourist facilities. For example, one of the most gorgeous beaches on the west of the island is "Playa de la Veta" which involves a twenty petite drive down a steep road, then a supplementary twenty petite walk down a cliff path and through a cliff tunnel. This is the just the way the La Palma is, natural and unspolit. It is one of the best locations for hiking.

La Palma of course does have more accessible beaches, such as Tezacorte, Puerto Naos and of course the capital Santa Cruz. And it is here where La Palma has its share of neon lights and cheap container room available, which is so far confined to these areas. The best tourist room by far are the historic villas. There are many available, often in idyllic rural settings with swimming pools.

People have talked about how the island is changing, as is so often the case. The government does have plans for tourism to put La Palma on the map. Currently the main problem is that the airport is not large enough to park the planes, and in singular the runway not long enough for bigger planes to take off. As a result, the airport has been wide at huge expense. This new airport is not open yet. Ask the locals and they will say, "Small island, big airport!" However, I guess once a few airlines increase their flight schedules and other airlines start to come, the airport will not seem quite so big.

The island has also gone down the route of golf courses and many are set to open up in the next few years. Much rural land has been put aside for this. To go alongside the golf courses, they are building some the typical large hotels, each with hundreds of rooms.

Of course, the locals are skeptical of tourism. Fortunately, I do not think La Palma will ever become "Playa de las Americas" - the geography of the island of La Palma is just not set up that way. I just hope that tourism is handled sympathetically so the local cheaper will benefit and tourists can appreciate what peace this island offers, in an otherwise chaotic world.

Planning Your Disney Vacation!

Planning a Disney Dream Vacation is a lot like doing homework. There are many components and it takes time to put all the pieces together. I have been traveling to Disney for 27 years and one thing has always been ingrained in me, schedule, schedule, schedule. Ok, those of you that are cringing at me right now, please stop, I will explain. The right planning will give you a 'schedule' that will flow from one bright adventure to the next. And yes, relaxation is built in to a good plan, if you want it.

The first things you should consider are when are you going to go, how you are going to get there and settle your allocation for the trip. Disney does not have to be high-priced (although it can be) but if you plan correctly, your vacation dollars will go a long way.

When are you traveling?
Choosing a time to tour to Disney is very important. It will settle pricing on resorts and airfare in expanding to determining approximate crowd levels. These all vary from month to month. The levels while the summer months, around the holidays and while school vacations are definitely in the higher numbers.

Cost of accommodations - Cost of accommodations is considered by 'seasons'. These seasons include: value, regular, summer, peak and holiday.

How are you going to travel?
Airfare - traveling near the holidays and in the summer is ordinarily more costly. School breaks also can growth the price dramatically.

Car - Depending on where you live in the country, your passengers and normal preferences, you may be able to drive and save a grand whole of money on transportation. Most Disney Resorts charge a daily fee for vehicles on site. Check out the fuel cost calculator in my tools. However, this calculator does not take in to catalogue wear on vehicle.

The other choice is Auto Train. It is a full-service train with accommodations and room for your vehicle. The majority of vehicles on the Auto Train going south are from Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey. Vehicles from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Maine, and all the New England States and some Canadian Provinces also use this mode of transportation. It is a nice choice if you are living in these states to give yourself a break.

What is your budget?
Determining the above factors (time of year, transportation, accommodations) will help you come up with a budget. If the cost is too high you can go back and convert your time of tour to a less high-priced season or convert your accommodations for your party (maybe bright from a fancy resort to a moderate or value). There are many ways to work your allocation so you get the most for your money.

troops Bases Near Lake of the Ozarks

The main attraction at The Lake of The Ozarks, of course, is the Lake itself. We spend so much time swimming, fishing, skiing, and just enjoying the wind in our hair as we skim over the water, that most of the time we plainly forget to look up. Then there are those times when you have to look up, when you hear a thunderbolt on a perfectly clear day. Not a literal thunderbolt, but an A-10 Thunderbolt Ii, nicknamed Warthogs. The A-10's that we see flying overhead in the "Land Of The Magic Dragon" are part of the 442d Fighter Wing based at Whiteman Air Force Base. Whiteman Air Force Base is 65 miles southeast of Kansas City, just off Us Highway 50 near Knob Noster. While missions the Warthog's objective is to provide close air keep by attacking tanks, armored vehicles, and other ground targets. Seeing them fly overhead you can't help but feel their power with a surge of patriotism and pride.

Many veterans, retired military, and old assistance members call The Lake of The Ozarks home or their home away from home. The proximity to services at both Whiteman Air Force Base and Fort Leonard Wood make this area a natural option for retired military members.

Whiteman Air Force Base provides a Commissary and a Base Exchange. Shoppers must show proper Id cards when production purchases at both facilities. The Thai Wedding Ceremony

There is a sure charm and romance in getting married through a traditional Thai wedding ceremony. As one of life's leading moments, a wedding is made more special the Thai way with its sacred customs.

Pre-Wedding Arrangements

Following Thai tradition, one of the closest friends of the groom formally asks for the bride's hand in marriage from her father. He also helps in negotiating the amount of dowry (sin sod) to be paid to the bride's house as a way of expressing gratitude for their daughter's good upbringing. In setting the date for the wedding, an astrologer is ordinarily consulted regarding the auspicious day for the ceremony, which is ordinarily held in August. On the evening before the ceremony, the integrate must pay respect to their ancestors in a Buddhist ceremony officiated by nine invited monks.

Religious Ceremony

The actual wedding ceremony takes place early in the morning at colse to 6am. Nine monks are invited once again to bless the couple. A string forming a circle binds the couple. After the monks' prayers are over, the integrate gives the monks each an envelope containing money. The newlyweds then eat lunch with the monks, final the morning ceremony, and will be production a donation to the local wat (temple) for the wedding blessing.

The main event of the wedding ceremony, called rod nam sang, is held in the afternoon. The couple's hands are soaked in the conch shell containing water, followed by wishes of good luck. The ceremony continues on until dinnertime, which is held in great revelry. After the supper reception, the elders hold a traditional send-off for the newlyweds with decorated roses.

Marriage Registration Vs Wedding Ceremony?

In Thailand, a lot of citizen do away with the legal aspects of the marriage, opting for having a traditional Thai wedding instead. However, it is recommended that you register your marriage at the local amphur (Civil Registry) so that you may be able to refer to this later on for legal matters. For foreigners, you will need to present an Affirmation of leisure to Marry fom your embassy, along with your passport. The Marriage Registration process need not be done the same time as the wedding ceremony, but can be done after the wedding day as well.

Do not limit yourself to what is just on my list, brain-storm and come up with your own ideas. Please use the worksheet at the end (Appendix A) to write your own Quick-fixes.

Start now - 10 Quick-fixes

These are not in any order - you can do any combinations of these any times a day or at minimum, once a day. Continue this everyday and vary the activities so that it does not become a disposition and you won't get bored.

1. Playing good music loudly

• This just makes me want to freestyle dance, all the time brings a smile to my face and leaves me feeling carefree and light. Disco and Abba is great for me. Also samba. Anything with a great African based rhythm. I stay away from death metal - that gives me a headache. I also like classical music - it's peaceful and lyrical and puts me in a calm, serene state.

• Choose songs that immediately make you smile, move or calms you down. Pandora.com is a free radio hub on the internet - enter one of your popular songs and it will find you songs of a similar type. Make any compilations: happy dance songs, peaceful calming songs etc.

• If music is not your thing, move on to the next action.

2. Do your popular exercises that make you sweat and your heart pumping for at least 20 mins to 1 hr. The foremost part is the sweating and the heart pumping. The natural endorphins your body releases will make you feel better. If you have a friend who is positive, exercise with them but don't discuss the problem. You just need to issue the negative energy. I advise doing these at least 2-3 times per week. I exercise daily.

• I go out dancing - salsa, hustle, ballroom, argentine tango, swing, freestyle, hip-hop, samba, belly-dancing. I all the time feel happy, excited and centered after dancing hard. The more stressed I am, the later I stay out dancing. In my corporate years, I would dance every night until 2-4am. I may be tired the next day, but I find I am in a best mood and when handling conflict, it brings about a best consequent when I am not emotionally attached to the problem. The other side benefits are that dancing has kept me salutary and fit and my dance technique has improved from all that practice. Now, I am a ballroom dance coach.

• Other examples - horse-back riding, wind-surfing, surfing, running, walking briskly, cycling, kick-boxing, spinning, skiing, snow-boarding, aerobics, swimming, racquetball, water-polo, swimming etc.

• If you do not have exercise in your life, you need to get started now. Not only will it help you with your current situation, the long term benefits to your health and reasoning well-being is enormous. If you continue to exercise commonly at least 2-3 times per week, this will help you in your path to enduring happiness and health.

3. Take a class in your area of passion or interest - studying will take your mind temporarily away from your problems, and get you out of your routine.

• I love to learn so it puts me in a good mood. It has also solved many of my problems. I take business, marketing, sales, leadership, personal development, dance or art lessons. In the past, I've taken golfing, skiing, drumming, piano, surfing, wind-surfing, framing, yoga, pilates lessons. If you are on microscopic funds, there are abundance of free webinars/teleconferences on the internet. The other alternative is to learn from a book, Cd or Dvd which you can borrow from your local library. My personal library is filled with books on leadership, business, marketing, sales, success, personal development, framing, art, dance and biographies of curious people.

• I signed up for Ballroom educator training to help cut the conflict between my boyfriend and me when I was teaching him ballroom. My teachers hired me to teach their beginner Ballroom classes after my first semester and I graduated top of my class 16 months later. Now, I transform lives straight through coaching, ballroom dancing and art!

• If you have insecurities about learning, don't do this yet. Build up your belief first.

4. Teach person else your expertise/passion/interest

• I cannot tell you the whole of times my students have certainly fallen straight through my door with gasps of "You cannot believe the day/week/month I've had" and left relaxed with a smile on their faces after 2 hours of painting. Or they leave rejuvenated and ready to conquer the world after one my of group or incommunicable dance lessons. In the case of first time beginners, the joy I see on their faces and the light in their eyes when they contemplate they can do something that they never concept they could. It is transformational for them. Or when clients call up overwhelmed and distraught and I am able to get them calm, happy, optimistic and armed with an activity plan. Even when I'm having a rough day, helping my students and clients and receiving these definite emotions back all the time lifts me up and energizes me.

• Even if you do not think you can teach, you should give it a try. I used to be afraid to ask questions in class and could not speak publicly until the age of 20. I advise beginning in a 1:1 situation if this is new to you. You can start with a house member or friend. person who is supportive and cares about you and needs your help. Then you can work your way to smaller groups. Who knows, this may lead to your next career. Working in the computer manufactures and in startups forced me speak commonly to large and small groups of citizen all over Asia Pacific, Europe and Us. My art and dance technique has improved tremendously straight through teaching. Worst case, you are just going to get best in your area of expertise/passion/interest.

5. Read an inspirational book, an inspirational blog or watch an inspirational movie or biography show on Tv.

• I like reading autobiographies and biographies of real citizen and how they have risen above their circumstances or adversities. Some citizen find this depressing, I find it motivational. It's like - "Well, if they can get over this, so can I". Some of my popular books are:

"Wild Swans: The three daughters of China" by Jung Chang,

"Such a long journey" by Rohinton Mistry,

"Stolen Lives" by Malika Oufkir and Michele Fitoussi,

"Daughter of Destiny - an autobiography" by Benazir Bhutto,

"The autobiography of Quincy Jones" by Quincy Jones,

"Jack: straight from the Gut" by Jack Welch and John A Byrne

"The Power of One" by Bryce Courtenay - don't see the movie, read the book. Even though it's fiction, I certainly identified with the lonely microscopic boy. And so many other books I could not bring with me as I've moved around so much.

• I loved the movie "Seabiscuit"... I am "Seabiscuit" - I didn't fit in, was once a cripple, do not look like everybody else and was imaginable to fail. The biography movies and shows on Tv profiling successful enterprise people, musicians, artists, athletes and world leaders have been eye-opening and curious - Warren Buffet, Oprah, Bill Gates, Sting, Jon Bon Jovi, Shania Twain, Jim Carrey, Christina Aguilera, Gandhi, Malcolm X, Ray Charles, Mohammed Ali, Tina Turner, Olga Korbut, Oksana Baiul etc.

• I bought "The Millionaire Maker" book by Loral Langemeier to help solve my boyfriend's problem; I ended up reading the book and signing up for their coaching services. My coaches recognized my vast personal caress in the arena of life transformations, my skills in teaching others and led me to my life purpose as a coach!

• Your local library is a great free reserved supply for books and some movies. Netflix.com is great for easy favorable passage to movies. I buy my books from Amazon.com - there is a used section if you have microscopic funds.

6. Call up or visit a friend

• Friends who have more problems than you - make him/her feel better.

I have a few friends in this kind - I don't tell them about what I'm going through. I just focus on them, make them laugh or tell them what a great mother/father/son/daughter/grandparent they are and how if they were my parents or siblings or grandparents, I would be so lucky. Then I march to tell them about how they are special. If they are in the midst of a crisis, I see what I can do to help. It's surprising how fast you can gain perspective on your problems when person else you care about is facing life or death situations.

• Friends who are wise happy souls who can put things in perspective.

My friends, students, staff, clients confide in me when they are having problems - I'm their wise happy soul. It makes me feel good and adds to my happiness when I'm able to bring a smile to their face or provide some relief for their emotional pain. I commonly ask them in the big project of things, if they were to die tomorrow, how foremost is this pain/adversity compared to all the splendid things they have going on in their lives?

I have one close friend who I call when I'm in the middle of a connection crisis and she can reflect back and summarize my jumbled thoughts into something cohesive which I can take activity on.

As I have all the time helped others, I didn't get a lot of help myself until I signed up for my first coaching agenda which has been life changing.

• Avoid calling friends who will just keep you in that negative loop. They enjoy hearing your tales of misery and have more tales of misery for you to confirm how much your life sucks. And even more evidence that the world is a cruel place so you may as well just slit your throat and end it now. Ok I'm exaggerating but you know what I'm talking about. These citizen do not offer solutions - they just like to wallow in doom and gloom.

• If you do not have friends, this will need to be in your long term strategy for happiness and prosperity. You can volunteer at non-profits to help others less fortunate and hire a coach as your wise happy friend.

7. Go to a peaceful place - do this in your mind or in reality

• I'm not good at meditating but this technique works for me. I am lucky to live in a peaceful place so I can just sit in my yard, look at the canyons and do these breathing exercises - I drop my head down to my chest and I breathe in deeply and when exhaling, I am imagining that I am pushing out the negative emotions that are causing the clutching in my chest or that knot in my stomach. I keep doing this until the intense feelings are reduced. Then I replace it with thoughts of good things like how lucky I am to have a home, to have my health, to have good citizen in my life, to have a sound mind etc. This is an adaptation of Larry Crane's issue technique. I discovered this in my 40s and it certainly made a difference. I got rid of a growth by doing this - when I went in for the procedure, the ob-gyn looked at me in shock and said it was gone! There were many other obstacles that just worked themselves out when I concentrated on releasing the negative emotions around those problems. For example: I hate driving and used to drive up to 3-5 hours round-trip at times for business. By releasing on these emotions, straight through an splendid series of events, the studio owner of a local ballroom studio offered me a teaching position at his studio, just 13 minutes from my home (this is close for Los Angeles area).

I do a modified breathing exercise with my art students - they certainly like it as it immediately disengages their mind from their problems and relaxes them. Some of my students have to battle Los Angeles traffic (always horrendous) to get to my art classes so they arrive rather stressed and rattled. I first start by getting them to take a deep breath - most of them jump up from their chairs at this point and stretch their arms up in the air while they are breathing in. Then when they breathe out, I encourage them to shake, rotate or stretch out their tense muscles, commonly in their heads, necks, shoulders, arms, etc. Then we take another deep breath and when breathing out, I instruct them to push out the negative thoughts and anxieties that are inside their heads, or the clutching in their chest or stomach. Then on the final deep breath, I thank them for being there with me, I remind them how they are all gorgeous citizen and how lucky we are to be painting with each other.

• Drive out to the ocean and listen to the surf - that all the time centers me, brings a feeling of calmness and makes me feel strong and considerable again. When my connection was falling apart, when my uncle passed away, when I was burned out - just a few hours by the ocean got me going again.

• Go for a walk in nature. Try to get away from cars, technology and people. I find that very healing.

• If you have funds, get a massage. If only the leaders of the world would commonly get good massages. Maybe there will be less fighting and more love. I only discovered this when I was in my late 30s - boy did that help me with my stress.

• If you love animals, getting a pet can help you. Just stroking your cat or dog is very calming and peaceful.

8. Create something

• I commonly paint - I get out my watercolors and start playing around with the colors. After a while, some inspiration will come and this process of creation all the time makes me feel better.

• Or I cook - it's even best when I can cook and feed person else. The sounds of person appreciating my cooking all the time make me smile. Don't do this if you have weight issues - you will just get more depressed.

• When I injured my knee and could not walk upstairs, I started sewing as that activity complex sitting in one place or cutting from the floor. I taught myself how to sew and made ball-gowns to hide my bent leg when I was dancing. Yes, I still went dancing even though I spent most of the time sitting down. It distracted me from my painful knee and now I have 10+ new outfits to wear dancing!

• Start a journal - write down 3 good things that happened to you today. Do this every day. It can be as straightforward as a friend calling you on the phone. Or the sun advent out. Those are good things. Or write down all things you are feeling every day. It does not have to make sense, just dump it out. Who knows, this may lead to your next occupation - writing. That's how I started writing. I have lots of microscopic unfinished stories scattered around in my computer and in any journals. All produced during times of great stress, anxiety, grief or shock.

• If you have never done Anything creative before but have a normal interest, go with that. If you do not know how to get started, buy a how-to book or signup for a class in wood carving, pottery, art, glass-blowing, cooking, writing, piano, violin, bass, dance etc. That's how I got started in painting - I woke up one day with this strong enforcement to paint with the Chinese brush in 2001. I went on the internet and found a Chinese brush painting class in San Francisco and on that Saturday painted for the first time. Boy did that turn my life forever!

9. Express love and gratitude to your loved ones. If you have a spouse, children, house or friends who love you - reach out to them and tell them how much you love them and how much they mean to you. Give them a hug or a kiss.

• I don't have house but I write emails to my close friends at odd times. It's commonly too late to call. I will tell them I'm reasoning of them and hope they are doing well. I thank them for their friendship, and tell them how extra they are. When you tell citizen they are special, it means more to them if you spell out what it is they are good at or identify a definite event which highlights their talents eg: great listeners, patient, creative qoute solvers, great sense of humor etc.

• I tell my boyfriend all the time how much I love him, what his specials talents are. I reach out and ask for a hug when I need it. That all the time makes me feel better.

10. Take a trip to somewhere thoroughly opposite to what you are going straight through - if you were burned by people, then go to a third world country like Brazil or Cuba where there are still happy citizen who care about each other even though they are certainly poor. If you are advent out of a thoroughly frazzled situation - go somewhere remote and peaceful without a lot of citizen - the more unknown the better.

• When I left Oracle for a startup which went bankrupt 6 months later, those 6 months were so intense it left me drained, numb and tired of bad people.

Instead of doing what I would commonly do in that situation - modernize my resume and job search, I flew out to Cancun, met with a dance friend and exploring pyramids, wells, caves and gorgeous beaches. We found a microscopic place in Tulum, 2 hours south of Cancun and stayed in a microscopic hut on the beach. There was no electricity; the floor of the hut was sand. It cost approximately nothing. That was on of the most rejuvenating times for me. We then flew to Miami for the largest Salsa festival in the Us - Calle Ocho and danced our butt off for 1 week with 2 other dance friends. I came back to San Francisco with a tan, lost about 10 pounds, a smile on my face and found a voice-mail from the President of a new startup curious me in for an interview. He hired me on the spot as Director of Marketing. How cool was that!

• There was a time when I was certainly burned out from dealing with unethical citizen and citizen who took benefit of my kind helpful nature. I began to lose my faith in the human race. I found myself in a deep depression, not wanting to eat, not able to sleep, not wanting to interact with anyone. I signed up for a dance agenda to Cuba and the 2 weeks there was life changing. Cuba was just advent out of their famine and the citizen there were so poor - food was hard to come by, even if you had money, there was nothing to buy in the stores. But I have never happier citizen in my life. They were filled with joy, laughter and love. Their abundance spilled out to all of us -foreigners - all broken in our many ways. What was clear to me then was because there was no money or material things to buy, their time was not spent in pursuance of money. Their time was spent with each other, laughing, singing, dancing, talking, hugging, playing music or doing other things together. There are no lonely citizen in Cuba. When I was with our group of local Cuban dancers, if I wandered off on my own, they would all the time call out, "Come walk with us, don't walk alone". Their children are their national treasure - children can rove anywhere and they are held, loved, taken care of and fed by their neighbors and total strangers. person will all the time bring the kids home to their parents at the end of the day. How splendid is that?

• Other places I've been to which are great for recovering your spirits - Koh Chang in Thailand, Pulau Langkawi or Pulau Tioman in Malaysia, Morro de Sao Paolo in Brazil. These places are all inexpensive, remote and peaceful. I had an ocean-front beach hut for /night in Thailand and daily massages for /hr. I stay away from the hectic costly resorts. I only went to hectic costly resorts when it was funded by my work. When I'm funding it, then it could also be costly resorts but peaceful ones - like the Kea Lani in Maui and the Grand Wailea in Maui (only for the imaginable spa - the rest of the resort is too chaotic).

Not all of these are long term strategies for enduring happiness but they will help get you out of your state of shock, despair, numbness, depression, paralysis, anxiety or disappointment etc. The issue of the negative emotions that are tying you up in knots will allow your objectivity and creativity to kick in. Often, the obstacle/adversity is not going to be as insurmountable as it first appears and the solution will gift itself once your head is clear. Just by the straightforward fact of taking some action, you be changing your results... You are no longer beating up on yourself or repeated request your mind for a solution when it clearly does not have adequate facts to make a decision. Changing your actions, bypasses your current negative thoughts and feelings and that changes the result. The turn in your energy will allow you to attract a distinct result. And often one good thing will lead to another to another.
